When Brigitte said, "do you want to see some castle ruins that were used in Game of Thrones?", I, of course answered, "Hell yeah!" We had an action packed day of driving the Coastal Causeway of Northern Ireland. The castle ruins were the very last stop before we headed back to Belfast. Unfortunately we just missed being able to tour them but at least were able to still roam the outskirts of the property and catch a glimpse of "Castle Greyjoy".

Growing up in New York, I have seen my share of grand mansions and even some small castles but nothing like what is across the pond. Atlanta has very little history, everything was burned during the civil war and it seems the local government could care less about preserving any history. When I see places rich with history it gives me a sense of home and just brings my heart joy. These ruins are mind-blowingly old. The earliest written history of the castle is from 1513. That is nuts! The history of Dunluce is full of tales of a banshee and how the castle kitchens fell into the sea during a storm in 1639.

The cute visitors office was closed but worthy of at least picture. I just can't believe how beautiful this area is. I feel lucky to have been able to see it.
