The road to Wesser Bald Fire Tower was just as picturesque as the hike. Several waterfalls dotted the way up the mountain. We stopped at one and stretched our legs.

The trail head can be spotted between a few gravel parking spots dotted at the crest of a mountain near the power lines. The Appalachian Trail crosses the road and it is marked but the direction to the tower is not. There are 2 ways up. One is a service drive that is located between some boulders. You know you are going the right way if you head up on this side of the road. Next to the service road (that is blocked off) you can take the AT. This way provides a much more gradual approach. We decided to hike up this way and come down along the road.

Once leaving the parking area on the trail the first sign you come to, letting you know you are going the correct way, is for Tellico Gap.

After our hike, on the way back home we came across the Lazy Hiker. We took it as a sign and stopped in for a couple of beers and grabbed lunch from the food truck in the parking lot. I am a sucker for a food truck and this one had some of the best hummus I had ever tasted. So good!
