Update on Winter Goals

I had high hopes for winter. Looking back it never really came. The Fall I thought I was robbed of was extended to Spring. I won't say I failed but my 3 main goals posted here just did not happen :(

1. Ice Skating - Fail! I did try to talk my husband into this for Valentines Day but he opted for a hike instead. He has absolutely no desire to go. My son, who is my adventure buddy, also had no interest. However, my daughter went several times but I was not going invite myself along with a bunch of late teen/early 20-somethings. I am a cool mom but cool enough to know when not to intrude.

2. Make a Gingerbread House- Win! We made a village. This will go down as a one and done activity for us. It sounded way more fun than it actually was.

3. Christmas Parade - Oh that happened and so did a post. I could just go on and on about these llama parades. Seriously the best thing to happen in 2016!

4. Run the 15k Hot Chocolate - Failed miserably. But glad I had. I was sick, it was raining and I was sick again so there would had been no training time. This winter I have been the most sick I have ever been in my entire life. Running more than 3 miles has only happened a handful of times.

5. Running under the lights at Lake Lanier - Sure did! You can read all about it here! This will be a tradition I hope!

6. Go see real snow  - One of my biggest goals, complete failure. I was teased with what was to be the storm of the century but I barely got a flake and I was so depressed about it I stayed in bed all weekend. Poor me, I know, but it really sucked. Add to that the warmest temperatures on record across the south, there was no where to actually go to see real snow without flying and with all the sickness and suckness that has been the start of 2017 that was not in the cards.

7. Winter Kayak - Ugh Ya'll! This was my biggest goal and it wasn't even cold this winter. I just could not make it happen. I tried a few times. I am so mad at myself for this one.

8. Cookie Exchange - I attend one with Boy Scouts and I helped organize one at work but I was too sick to attend the one at work. My sweet co-workers gave me a tin of cookies anyway because they rule and felt sorry for me because I wanted to do this so badly.

9. Make Christmas Cards - This I sort of completed. Not everyone got a handmade card but 26 people did!

10. Clean My Chimney - Yes and no. Not professionally. I did it with one of those special logs.

What did I learn from this? I learned to stick with my yearly goals and sickness is a goal crusher!
