Elachee Nature Center

I love Bats!

My daughter bought me a bat house for Christmas, still waiting for Shane to hang it up!

In his defense, it does have to be painted and hung very high and in a specific spot so it's not as simple as go nail that to a tree!

But still... (I love you honey**batting eyelashes**)

Anyway, there is a bat exhibit until the end of the month at the Elachee Nature Center. Sadly, I missed seeing the live bats they had early on but we still learned a lot about bats and my son had a good time with all the hands on activities.

The center is also home to a red-tailed hawk that was hit by a car and is blind in one eye. He is living a very happy life in his new retirement home. There is also a reptile room full of frogs, snakes, lizards and turtles.

We got to touch and identify some bones

We ended the visit with a small walk around the center. There are a ton of hiking trails and famous mountain biking trails. We did not want to hike very long since we got a few more bug bites and after last weekend we were both over the itching.

More butterflies! My butterfly photos have been on point this summer!
