Backyard Oasis

Macro Series #1

Admit it! You are now humming Blink 182 in your head. If not you should be! That song always makes me feel like I should be skate boarding. Not that I can skate, or that I ever really could, but my old Vision Joe Johnson has seen some pavement and so has my knees.

My sweetie surprised me with the Nikon 105mm macro for Christmas and I am just now getting around to really playing with the macro part. It makes an excellent portrait lens but the real magic is in the small stuff.

I have a few things the massive heat wave managed not to kill still thriving in the backyard.

I really have a brown thumb. I have discovered Scarlet Begonias are immune to my plant plague.

I also planted 2 butterfly bushes in what was supposed to my daughters vision of a vegetable garden. She dug up and killed my wild flowers that I had the were thriving a few years back and it has been a barren wasteland of failures ever since. One of the two bushes is kicking butt along with some lavender.

It has been covered in butterflies, interesting bees and yesterday even a humming bird. Sadly no picture of that but it has been giving me lots of practice with butterfly pictures.

I am hoping to discover a whole new tiny world to share with you.
