Some old friends of mine have a tradition they started many years ago carving a yule log with wishes for the coming year on the Winter Solstice. When they began traveling to visit family in Florida we started doing it ourselves as we loved this tradition and wanted to keep doing it even if we couldn't be with our friends. Now we share that tradition with other friends. It is a nice break in the midst of Holiday chaos to gather a few friends, family and neighbors together, eat some of my white chili and my now famous "wassle" spiked + spiced hot apple cider.

Some years it is a big gathering, some years it is small and some it is just us but no matter what it is my family tradition and it is my favorite.

The Dremel is not as easy at is looks!

 We take the ashes saved from years past and pour them over the log. Once the log burns down to ashes we collect them and save them for the next winter solstice.
