Anatomy of a run

I said I was going to post about some of the places I run frequently.

This is the third post so far. You can read here or here

if you really want to follow along or just see pictures of local parks.

Bunten Road Park is not remarkable but it does have a nice 1 mile loop paved trail that isn't too hilly.

Not to say there isn't any hills. There are 3 if you run from left to right. I think it may actually be easier to run right to left but in the 3 years I have been running here I may have done that one time. The first part is pretty flat. You are running around a soccer field. You don't see anything really until you get past the tennis courts and here is your first hump.

There is a small nature trail near the tennis courts. It runs behind Sugarloaf Country Club so if you want to see how the other half lives you can get a sneak peek down this way. I will run this when I need to add more mileage and don't want to loop as much. The little trail is pretty fun and adds maybe .4 miles to the run depending on if you run all the little shoots.

This is my favorite part ^. Just after that little hump you haul ass down this hill and it lets you catch your breath and give you the oomph you need to get up the next hill.

When you see this building then you have reached the only really hard part of the loop. Luckily it is short. I ran this loop 3 times yesterday and managed to not stop the entire time. PROGRESS!

Now you are in the home stretch but after huffing that hill it seems like it is much longer than it is.

When I get through this tunnel I am pretty close to where I started and it is like magic. I feel better once I get to this point. This is where I negotiate with myself in my head before starting the next lap.

Que happy dance...or stretch. For the record I ran 3.5 miles so the pictures were taken on the last half mile of the trail when I was walking back to my car. Next week starts the 4 mile "short" runs and the "long"runs on the weekend get longer faster.

All of these were taken with an iPhone 6 plus.
