Let me just clear up a couple of things
#1 running from left parking lot toward the tunnel at Bunten Road Park is NOT easier! I would much rather run up those 3 hills the other way than the one going in this direction any day. That sucked! Apparently I impressed the Asian boy walking the opposite direction because he gave me two thumbs up when I crested the top. Either he knew better or I looked haggard. Probably both.
#2 The nature trails added more than .4 of a mile but can't tell you exactly how much (will explain)
I had full intention of properly documenting the nature trail and measuring the exact length if you ran all of it
I know I have photographed this tree on instagram before but it always makes me smile when I see it.
It looks like it has long eyelashes and a big nose.
I was about .25 of a mile in when over my loud music I heard a strange noise that startled me. I pulled my earbud out and I could just make out in the distance a man in the woods down the trails ahead of me.
He was yodeling, loudly.
I was alone, tired and near the end of my run and I instantly bolted to the nearest off shoot that sent me out of the woods avoiding getting anywhere near this guy. This isn't a bad area but it is Atlanta folks. We are known for our crime. It didn't help that I watched 'I Spit on your Grave' the night before. I know what happens to women caught alone in the woods people!
So knowing I was only .35 miles when I came barreling out of the woods and still had plenty of trail left between me and the Mad Yodeller it is safe to say it is longer than .4 miles back there.
This nature trail is short but in the years I have ran here I have never been creeped out before. There have been times I have found some random things back here though like the one time I found a hand made treasure map tacked to a tree.
Unfortunately for today I have to leave you with just this bench. No treasure maps, just creepy mad yodeling old men and my heart rate of about 217.
