Carlsbad Cavern National Park New Mexico

After leaving West Texas we headed to Roswell, New Mexico for some Alien fun and then stayed in Carlsbad for a couple of days and explored the coolest cave I have been in thus far.

The Road Runner, pictured above was not at all as I expected. This guys did not have his famous tuft of feather on top of his head exposed.Pretty cool bird none the less.

Javelina - did not see them in Arizona last time but got my fill in New Mexico.

Found this poor deceased desert mouse. I thought about tossing him over to the Bald Eagle I saw but figured he would spot it on his own.

This Elk was in rut, late for the season but boy was he LOUD!

This is the natural entrance to the cave. In summer you can watch the bat flight at sunset here.

Just when you thought you got to the end, there would be even more switchbacks.
