Yellowstone - Old FaithfulTo be honest, I wasn't super stoked at all about Old Faithful. I was under the impression the whole park was centered around it. I could not have been more wrong. The entire area near OF is active and there are many other geysers and things to see. Random bubbling and spraying all around. Crazy cool geology if you are a rock nerd like me.
Old Faithful erupts on average every 60 to 110 minutes and can reach 106 to 184 feet (30 to 55 meters). An eruption lasts between 1.5 and 5 minutes. The visitor center posts a time within 12 minute +/- of the next eruption and there is lots of seating for viewing just outside the visitor center. We opted to hike around and watch it from the boardwalk away from the crowd. Highly recommend doing this.
