Over 11,000 years of human history have been recorded in South Dakota's Badlands National Park. Consisting of more than 244,000 acres of sharply eroded buttes, pinnacles and spires, blended with the largest protected mixed-grass prairie in the United States, they are filled with legends, Indians, gold mining, and ghost towns.
