Clingman's Dome is located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is exactly 3 hours from my house. I have been wanting to go here for years. Now that I have not just one but 2 dedicated hiking buddies I was able to knock another bucket list item off my extremely long and growing list.

The Smoky Mountains, named by the Indians, because of the clouds and fog that roll in most mornings.

I was able to drag my teenage son along with me. My first and foremost adventure buddy.

Sunrise in the mountains is always magical.

Clingman's Dome Mountain in Cherokee is Kuwahi or ᎫᏩᎯ, meaning "mulberry place."

The first snow of the season was a few days before and we felt and slipped on the remnants of old man winter.

This part of the park will close from December until March. I am grateful we were able to arrive just before all the fall color is gone.
