This has been a long time coming, my dream of owning a goat has come true!
Meet Hermoine Grazer! She is a gorgeous 8 month old female Kiko nanny.
The Kiko breed is popular in US southern states where drug-resistant parasites have wreaked havoc on southern herds. The Kiko shows a natural parasite resistance that allows it to thrive in climates where other goats do not.
The breed began in the 1980's in New Zealand and made their way here in the mid 90's.
The girls will be working hard to clear out lots of brush on the farm.
The other 2 females are also Kiko and their names are Cotton and Potoooooooo (pronounced Po-eight-o)
Hermoine was greeted by Charlie, the farm dog, when they arrived but she did not like that and head butted him. Charlie steers clear now. Soon the 3 will be joined by one more female and one Billy goat. They should be having babies next spring. Can you imagine all the fun I am going to have with those babies!
Obviously I was partial to capturing lots of pictures of my goat. I will be documenting them all though. Stayed tuned for lots of goat antics!
I am so excited to share the news here about my goat! Crazy thing is she isn't the only new animal added to our menagerie. I will save that for another post!
