My husband and I spent a whirlwind 36 hours on official vacation. When Southwest first announced it would be adding daily non-stop flights to Nashville from Atlanta they had a steal of a deal. I also had a free hotel night from Hotels.com that needed to be used so we decided to take advantage and have a much needed getaway for just the two of us. I had been to Nashville a few times when my best friend lived nearby but only for music festivals or bar hopping. I never did spend much more time there and my husband had never been except when we drove through to Illinois. We landed at 8:00am and hit the ground running.

First stop was the Cambria Hotel. Open for about 6 months and a really cute boutique hotel just on the edge of SoBro. Perfect spot to walk anywhere. We dropped our bags and we were off.

The first thing we noticed was so much construction! It was all the locals talked about. Apparently 100 new people move here everyday. It has certainly changed since the last time I was here nearly 10 years ago. It seems when you become a country star you automatically get a bar on Broadway and/or a music studio on Music Row. We are not the biggest country fans but we love rock-a-billy and Johnny Cash!

Our hotel room was not ready yet so we were offered deep discounted hop-on, hop-off trolley tickets. It was 95 degrees and sunny and I was super happy we had these to travel around since my swamp-ass was in full swing by 10 am. The first place we got off was Victory Park. Along the walkway were circles in the cement representing each county in Tennessee containing a time capsule buried underneath. There was another walkway covered in random trivia. There are also several memorials and an excellent view of the capital and skyline.

We waited for the trolley inside the Farmers market. From there we decided to get off again at Marathon Motors. This was a super cool building full of old industrial equipment from when it was a car manufacturing plant. While inside we could not help but sample the free moonshine and purchase a wine slushie to sip on while meandering through the building.

We had cooled off but by the time our trolley came back around we were pretty hot again. We decided to just sit back and enjoy the ride until we got hungry for lunch. At that point we got off to eat some of that infamous Nashville Hot Chicken.

We settled on Acme Feed and Seed for lunch and man are we glad we did! Great view from the roof and even better food. I mean the Hot Chicken was good but the seared Ahi Tuna was to die for.

With a little more time to kill before our room would be ready (we did get to the hotel before 9:00am after all) we hit the main thing we wanted to do. The Johnny Cash Museum.

Now it was time to walk back to the hotel and cool off in the rooftop pool!

After many a poolside Moscow Mule and variations there of, we headed back to our room, enjoyed the sunset view while we got ready and argued whether the gigantic flock of birds outside our window were actually bats.

Shane and I decided to hit Second Fiddle because it was the one of very few places that have stood the test of time (and I have very fond memories of that place), listened to great music, walked the street and listened to more music and took a walk over the pedestrian bridge before turning in.

Our flight was slightly delayed so we were able to Uber over to Biscuit Love for breakfast before we hit the airport (after we slept in of course).

Bonuts! We need these in Atlanta! Donuts made from biscuits...who knew?!
