Every Spring I get the gardening bug. By the Summer, the heat has already taken it's toll on me, the plants and my spirit. This year is going to be different! I say this every year but this year I am more motivated. I wish I could say I came up with the idea but I have to credit my friend Marie. She decided to plant nothing but mosquito repellent plants on her deck. It is a sensational plan. The bugs last year were brutal. Hopefully with a little help from Mother Nature, between the coldest winter we have had in years and my little plants I am hoping more hammock naps in the back yard will be possible.

I planted 2 Citronella, 5 Marigolds, 1 Lemon Balm, 1 Sage and 1 Cilantro. Some herbs double as a repellent. I have tried herbs before. Let's hope I have better results. I also used to have a wonderful wild flower garden. That was dug up so my daughter could plant a vegetable garden, that she never worked on at all and everything died...I am still a little bitter about that. I have tried to put other things in it's place and have had no luck. I am making it my mission to bring it back. I miss it so much.

In addition to the outdoor area I have some cuttings going on inside and have been able to replant one of them.

A few of my little critters have found a new homes inside my plants.

I bought a bamboo plant after I killed my cactus for my office desk. This inspired a couple of other co-workers to buy plants. I decided to buy another big plant and I almost killed it over the weekend. I managed to bring it back to life.

Wish me luck on my gardening journey. I hope I can keep it up. So far my terrariums are doing great so I have moved on to bigger and better things.
