Thompson's Tree FarmOnly once in my life had I ever had a real Christmas tree. My step-grandfather used to go moose hunting in Maine. One year he cut down a Christmas tree on his trip and brought it to us. The thing I remember about that tree was listening to the needles tink against the ornaments as they fell off the branches. By the time Christmas came and went and we took it down there was not a single needle left on that tree. We have always had fake trees. The invention of the pre-lit tree was genius until last year when most of the lights has went out on it. They are pretty useless after that. I did have that tree for about 10 years though. It was big and wide and I wanted a smaller tree anyway. The tree I purchased in its place was too slim. This year I got the bright idea we would go to the tree farm not far at all from our home and cut down our own tree. I had visions of this perfect tree and the smell of it filling the air. What a great family bonding moment. Reality was that our new fur family member wanted to pee on every tree we passed. He also wanted to chase the goats and cow on the farm.
We at least got a really nice family picture and I went home and ordered a new pre-lit tree from Target during their Black Friday sales. I also have a nice cranberry candle to burn that smells like Christmas. Fake for the win! Comments
