This little town is famous for it's Cotton.

The old cotton mill lays in ruins

They have restored the old hotel and they still have a cotton gin festival every fall. The cotton fields are already starting to flower. I am really hoping to get back out here and get some fall family portraits out in those fields. They are gorgeous! The downtown area is small and literally falling apart but in the most picturesque way. Most UE folks are more familiar with the famous Nolan Plantation property. A popular spot for decaying photo's. I did not stop there this time. I have more than my share of shots from that place. Now the whole bottom floor has it's windows boarded up and it is not the same. Still, I pass by this on my way to South Carolina often and I am always drawn in to stop somewhere in this town to take pictures. Somehow I find something new in this tiny town every time. This time it was a creepy tree and cemetery.

I just so happened to be looking in the right direction or I would have missed it.

The fear of chiggers did not keep me away this time. Even though with every step an army of grasshoppers moved around me all the way to and from the car. There were hundreds of them and they were so loud when they jumped in the tall grass. It was really pretty neat.
