Running with a New PackSince leaving the Cub Scouts committee I feel like a weight was lifted. That was part of my "organize my time better" goal for 2016. Too many chiefs, not enough Indians. I am much happier being a Indian. There was a lot of struggle between the old members and the new members and though I think everyone meant well, it did not bode well for the kids. We did a lot less than we ever did and had more people involved than ever. Frustration spread and my son's den was going to be leader-less. We had no idea what was going to happen and were preparing to have to either finish up on our own to crossover to Boyscouts or quit (which was not what he or we wanted). Then a surprise happened. Our current leader decided to take over a smaller pack that was struggling and was about to have to merge into our current pack. So we made the switch along with our leader. We only have less than a year left of Cub Scouts before we cross over to Boy Scouts and into the troop our kids have been involved with up to this point. Really this was the best news. Sadly I am going to miss many of the kids/parents from the other dens but I am not going to miss the drama and I am excited that we are going to actually get to do some fun things. Our kick-off was renting out a local aquatic center. I think we are starting off with a bang.
