One thing that my parents said that always stuck out from my teen years (and bothered me) was "the friends you have now are not going to be the friends you have later in life".

Maybe that was true before the internet.

But boy were they wrong!

I have some pretty great friends from WAYYYYY back.

The Atlanta punk scene was small in the 80's and pretty tight. I am pretty excited to say that I am still in touch with many of those people from one of the best times of my life. See Mom, not all kids with mohawks are bad! Now many of those kids have kids of their own. I love seeing and being a part of my friends family and important events. I love seeing how different and sometimes how much of the same our kids are from us.

When Ike's daughter Ashley told him she wanted a punk rock theme to her senior pictures he knew exactly who to call!

As you can see we had a lot of fun roaming around our old stomping grounds from our childhood.

Little 5 Points is not the same but it is still fun and has some interesting shops and bars. Ike pointed out to Ashley and Amy where the old bulletin board used to be that his band (and many others) would tack their fliers onto to announce their shows. We reminisced about all the cool shows we attended and the various venues, pointed out where things used to be like the Point (where clothing warehouse is now) Fellinis Pizza (not L5P pizza), the old Junkmans daughter, Rene Rene, where I bought my first prom dress and later my daughters graduation dress, now gone (insert really sad face). Wax N Facts is still there but not selling all the old t-shirts we used to love to buy. We did get coffee from Java Lords, an old friend from back then now owns and Ike got a Metroplex t-shirt from Paul's (former owner of the Plex) Pot Shop, conveniently located next to the Police Station.

After coffee ( and the best almond milk caramel latte ever) I suggested we go to East Atlanta.

EAV just feels like home. I love this neighborhood.

Our last stop was Cabbagetown. Another favorite 'hood of mine. I almost bought a house here when my daughter was a baby...still kicking myself over that one.

Ashley has some pretty great parents and a confidence you don't find in many young kids these days. I am absolutely convinced she is going to be extremely successful in whatever she decides to do in life. Good Luck Girl!
