I finally knocked another hike off my bucket list. Phinzy Nature Preserve in Augusta, GA is teaming with wildlife. It is also teaming with mosquitoes this time of year so bring your bug spray. Luckily we were covered. I can honestly say I have never seen so many dragonflies in my life! Even more than when we visited the Okefenokee Swamp. The hikes are not too long but can be brutally hot in the summer. We went early and were pretty sweaty by 10:30 am.

We were immediately greeted by a turtle who decided the middle of the trail was the best place to take a nap.

We only saw one other person on the trails while we were here. There were plenty of cars in the parking lot so that was surprising. The woman explained where we could see an alligator and the best way to do a loop around. She was a big help since we did not have a trail map. Just under 3 miles was perfect.

If you go-pack sunscreen, water, snacks and bug spray. Keep an eye out for alligators. We didn't see any snakes but we heard a rattler. Stay on the trails.
