The goal this year was simple... take care of myself. That meant mentally and physically. It has been a very challenging year. I don't think I could have gotten through some of the hurdles without an abundance of self care. I lost my father. I held him in my arms as he took his last breath. I cried hard with my brother. I got through this because I reconnected with my family. I need my niece in my life. Sitting around my brother's dining room table looking at old pictures, drinking and laughing with my niece and my sister felt like an anvil was lifted off of my chest. Losing my father has been really hard. I have so many feelings bubbling up that I have to sort through as they come. My husband and I have formed such a strong bond in these last 6 months. I really feel like we are one. We both have faced huge challenges and I really feel like we both not only genuinely need each other but we want each other and we work well as a team when we both focus on the other one. That has done a lot for my mental health!

I also feel like when I set some of these goals for myself that I tend to accomplish some of them after I take them off the list the following year. I did finally hammock camp. That was on the list in 2017 and 2018 but off of 2019 and now it is a game changer! I will find it very hard to sleep in a tent again. Last year was the year for change but I feel like most of that change is happening now. Losing my dad, new car, big trips, lots of changes around the house and the biggest one is my daughter is moving out next month. I am happy for her but incredibly sad for me. I will miss her more than she knows.

I visited the Phinzy nature & wildlife preserve, several new cemeteries, camped and received a new road bike for my anniversary so I see lots of bike riding in the future. I knocked a big hike off my list. I have not kayaked but one time. Losing the truck made it more challenging to get the boats out. We will be picking up a trailer just after our trip so hopefully we will get back on the water soon. Sadly school starts back the first week of August and that puts a huge damper on just about everything in my life.

Remodeling is slow going but happening. We installed a new ring doorbell and Roman Shades in the living room. Will be changing out the doors soon, already picked them out and ready to order. Carpet in the bedrooms next after that, then onto the kitchen! Husband started on the landscaping but totaled the truck mid way through. That put a monkey wrench in a ton of our plans. After our big trip we will be back at it. The good news is we are proud new owners of a 4WD Toyota 4runner! That baby is sweet!

We have not fixed the go cart but instead an amazing friend built a custom, better and faster one! Will be picking that up shortly!

I have not visited new cities yet but I have 3 on the books for July! Progress!

I am still volunteering but am still yet to fall in to a schedule. Hope that will change after summer break.

As far as snail mail goes...I am knocking that out of the park! NLWM was so much fun and I can't wait until next year to do it all over again. I made 2 new regular pen pals along with so many others I love to send and receive mail from.

I have read a bunch of books and started a book club. I have been way to busy at work to practice Spanish or teach my son anything. He has been spending time with his Grandma so much that I have hardly seen him. The dog went camping and we have been working with him off leash in the front yard along with working hard to get him to stop jumping up on visitors.

Last but not least...Shane themed dates. I would say we have done a couple (I think Slow Pour in our new fave spot) and I have a few more on the calendar.
