For the past 2 years I have had hammock camping on my yearly goals list. This year I removed it and low and behold, I finally got to do it! What a game changer! I slept great, was more comfortable than ever and stayed dry and bug free! My daughter has an Eno and I have a Madera for lounging, but for hammock camping we bought Yukon hammocks. They come with a bug net attached that has separate restraints so it doesn't lay on top of you and a rain fly. The cost is 1/2 of what an Eno will set you back with all the accessories. I can't recommend these hammocks enough. These are what the Boy Scouts use and they are durable and affordable.
Our pup got his first camping trip under his belt as well. He did great. Still and idiot when it comes to other dogs, but has chilled out considerably around people. He does have a habit if trying to dominate any males he feel may pose a threat. If the male stays firm, he is good but I have found drunk guys like to try to rough house with him and he takes that as an invitation to take them down. He truly is a great protector.
Another trait of the Catahoula Leopard Dog is huge webbed feet. They are natural swimmers from their time hunting in the marshes in Louisiana. Did you know they are the LA state dog?
He loved the lake! He loved to fetch in the lake! He tried to get on my kayak but almost tipped me over. I was going to attempt to paddle him around, however I will definitely need the sit on top to try that with. I have a feeling we are going to be flipping over a bit until he gets that hang of it.
My son made friends, as usual. Don't you wish it was still that easy to make friends when you go places?
The first paddle, first camping trip and first lake swim of the season! Bring on the summer! Even better, we are looking at a long dry spell. I never thought I would wish for a drought but I am!
I am so looking forward to more days like this with my dog!
We had a fabulous weekend of sunrises and sunsets over the water and were treated to a Blue Moon. I so needed this!
