Rabbittown
In what is now Northeast Gainesville, once stood a small town called Rabbittown. The name originated from the many rabbit farms in the area. The area is now known for being the poultry capital of the world and the town even erected a sad little pillar with a chicken on top to commemorate it. This ruffled some feathers from the former inhabitants of the long forgotten rabbit farming community so they erected and much grander monument to celebrate the hopping past of the area.
I am happy the rabbits are no longer on the menu. I have a rule about not eating what I once owned as a pet.
