How seriously handsome is Sirius?!

I have always been a huge fan of Stone Mountain. Over the years it has become expensive, crowded and commercialized, add to that the fact that dogs aren't allowed on the mountain. Recently I have discovered a new favorite granite mountain, Arabia Mountain. It is free, dog friendly and way less crowded!

The main route is marked by stone pylons so it is easy to find your way back if you wonder around the area and off the trail.

Just like stone mountain, the face is covered in water filled craters that I learned my dog has to splash in every single one of them.

In late February the craters are covered in a rare plant, diamorpha smallii, that turns an eye-catching red before donning pure, white flowers. The transformation is just beginning. I plan on trying to document the whole process. Funny enough I learned of this plant when my friend Emily and her biologist daughter, Elle came to visit. This was one of the things they wanted to see. Sadly it wasn't the right time of year.

This was the first time Brody was able to handle him for a bit on the leash. Progress!

Catahoulas are notorious for being bad on a leash. They have a very strong hunting drive. He is also so protective of us.
