Growing up in New York I was surrounded by Christmas lights. It is true, no one does Christmas like NY! I miss being able to drive around and see an abundance of over the top Christmas displays without having to pay a steep price to actually go in somewhere. The Nextdoor App is usually full of bored housewives or retirees complaining about stuff but for once it had a thread worth reading. Drive by X-mas lights. I had no idea there was an entire neighborhood just a couple of miles away that decorated for the holidays. Apparently this has been going on for years. With a little ( a lot !) of coaxing I got my husband to grab the dog and the boy and head out to see the lights on Christmas Eve eve.

My son called this the rainbow nightmare tree.

I want this tree but when I finally found it online it was $180.00 each...not happening!

I am not a fan of the blow ups. To me that is just lazy decorating. I prefer the super old timey fixtures but sadly those are rarely seen in the south. I am also not a fan of the Chicken Pox lights. Only a handful of houses did not have decorations. I would almost feel like a tool if I lived in here and didn't put something out. Even if you are not Christian you could put out something to represent your belief or non-belief. People are too touchy these days. It was nice to find a bit of Christmas magic so close to home.
