Fort Yargo DrainedThe Lake is closed and drained for repairs and upgrades at Fort Yargo State Park. They hope to start filling it back up in the spring. I am not too hopeful with the warm weather we are having it's January and I am sweating! But I hear they do this fairly often so I am probably wrong.
Hiking around the lake with it being so low was like exploring a whole new park.
I only explored half of the park, I would like to see what the other half of the lake looks like by the damn.
It still makes for pretty scenery and was an excellent way to spend the day wandering.
There is an apocalyptic vibe to the area.
Fort Yargo is the closest state park to me. I have kayaked there a few times but never this side of the lake. Will have to come back when there is water in it. Save Comments
