The Sting of FallWe have had an Indian Summer. I can say that since I am 1/16th Blackfoot Indian.
We are finally withdrawing from recording-breaking highs. Crisp mornings, earlier sunsets and sweater weather are urging me to start running again. I decided to just jump back in by signing up for a virtual race, totally did it for the medal, along my favorite running trail, the Ivy Creek Greenway. Medals + Races = Motivation!
I have been lucky to get a single run in each week and mostly they have been short. I have found that if I don't sign up for a race I don't run as much. If I don't sign up for a race over 10k, I won't train at all. I have a couple of races coming up this winter that are motivating me to get moving again.
My right knee has been giving me trouble but after 2 miles it seemed to work itself out.
Upon my walk back to the car, shortly taking the picture above, it finally happened. I got stung by a bee! Shocking as it sounds, considering the amount of time I have spent outside on planet Earth, this was my first ever sting. I had my headphones on, music blasting, walking back to my car when I let out a very loud scream. I never saw it coming, Hell I never saw it period. I just felt something bite the crap out of me and swatted my leg. Nothing was there but a stinging, burning, sharp shooting pains. I wish I knew exactly what stung me. A little drop of blood and some sweaty, salty tears, was all that little %&*$# left me (and a really itchy spot 2 days later). Bees are for the birds!
