October is my favorite month but it has become my most stressful month in the last few years. I yearn for the days of a less hectic schedule and more time to do all the fall things. This past Summer I had the foresight to book a weekend get-a-way smack dab in the middle of crazy time and force myself to keep a weekend free to get up to the mountains I love so much and enjoy the season.

Fall is just beginning to explode in the higher elevations.  

We stayed in the coziest little cottage. The pictures on the website do not do it justice. This place was a little slice of heaven hidden away near Lake Chatuge, about 2 miles from North Carolina.

This was the common area. There was a TV and movies (which never was turned on) a library and the kitchen/dining area were shared with 2 other couples for the weekend. The owners lived in the house behind the cottage and popped in when we arrived and to cook us breakfast each morning.

This Stove is still in working order and was used to cook us the most delicious breakfasts each day.

Shane and I are not used to sleeping in a King size bed. It was super comfy.

I kept checking to make sure "Annabel" didn't move.

That tub right there is what sold me on this place to begin with. I enjoyed my first ever bath bomb in that antique claw foot tub!

The first night was spent with another couple sitting on this porch, sipping wine and homemade brownies and cookies that were laid out for us, telling stories and making new friends.

This homemade blueberry butter was to die for!

Locally grown and hand double dipped strawberries greeted us the second night after long days of drinking wine and hiking (in another post)

Dave and Mariah were gracious hosts. We had such a wonderful time. I rarely like to do the same thing twice but we will be back again for sure. Staying at a Bed & Breakfast is not everyone's cup of tea. This was only our second time but we have become fans. It is so much cozier than a hotel. We had plenty of privacy and we just loved the people we met while staying there. Everyone was very respectful. It was so peaceful. Really felt more like staying at a friends than a vacation. They run a living social special a couple of times a year and are set to have another one out in November so keep an eye out. I know I will be!
