We have had some crazy cold weather for the Atlanta area.

I have not seen any snow on the ground but plenty of flurries.

We southern folk (even transplants like me) get very excited when the white stuff falls from the sky.

Unfortunately 90% of the time it is just freezing rain and worse, ice.

I have seen some Blizzards and snows storms as a kid growing up on Long Island.

I have never seen ice storms until moving south.

They are crazy cool to look at.

This is the beginning of the subdivision I live in.

Everything is coated with a layer of ice.

Including bridges, powerlines, cars...you get the picture.

The weight of the ice causes the thin pine trees to bend completely over

Usually these things are flukes. The sun will come out and melt everything by noon.

This was taken 24 hours after it began.

Even today there is still ice on the trees up in the North East Corridor where I live.

We ALWAYS get ice in Dacula.

Remember what I said about trees?

This one snapped from the ice and landed perfectly on a power line.

Brody, in typical boy fashion, likes hitting the ice with a stick to knock it off and make it sound like breaking glass.

I am glad I finally got the iphone 6 plus last week. Just in time to put it to work snapping all of these great ice pictures.
