One of the belt loops you could earn in Cub Scouts was geocaching. We did it a couple of times and it was fun but we never managed to really get into it. The weather outside has been gorgeous inbetween all this stupid rain. Warm breezes has got me dying to get outside. I haven't had time to go on big hikes, nor has the weather held out long enough for that but there have been some nice afternoons begging for me to do something. On a whim, and honestly feeling too lazy for a run, I checked the geocache app to see what was around. To my surprise the area is loaded with caches! I swear the last time I looked at it there were hardly any around, now they are everywhere! Decided to go wander around and see what I could find.
Found this, and Spencer ;). The next day I decided to wander around again on my lunch break.
This time I found a kindness rock and a loose gem at a park. Decided to bring it with me to leave in the cache if I found it.
This past weekend it was in the upper 60's and the sun reared its head for a few extended stays. I was itching to go for a hike with my boys however ended up in another area with several caches so we spent this rare nice February afternoon doing our first family geocaching.
We found 2 and were stumped by one.
My favorite pen pal and blogger Kaylah, raves about geocaching. Now I know why. It is addicting. Now I have a reason to wander around on my lunch breaks again. I have been so unmotivated, and for sure feeling the winter blues. This is the kick in the butt I needed to get moving again.
Treasure hunting, wandering, exploring and nature...all of my favorite things tied up neatly in one activity!
