It does not take much arm twisting to get us to go hiking so participating in a first day of the year hike was a no brainer for us. Originally we planned to get up early New Years Day and meet my boss to hike Blood Mountain but after spending the last week in New York and record low temperatures, another 10 degree day in the mountains was not high on my priority list. We opted instead to sleep in, do yoga, then hike a nearby trail when it warmed up to about 28. Seems I brought the record cold temps home with me.
We had not hiked the ravine trail since they paved most of it. It still has all the steep grades, just more easy on the footing.
So far we have started 2018 strong. Let's hope we keep it up!
Happy New Year!
