The Fabulous Fourth
July is the best month ever. Always has always will be. First of all, it is my birth month. It seems like parties and the best vacations have always been in July.
Then of course there is my favorite holiday, Independence Day.
Why Independence Day? My number one reason is there are no family obligations. One of my worst childhood memories fell on July 4th. I had a terrible bicycle accident when I was a kid and I spent a lot of time in the hospital. I spent one July fourth in the hospital watching the Music Man (I still hate this movie and most musicals because of this) all alone while my family went to a party. I was told and I quote "why should we all suffer because you are in the hospital". Yeah, THAT happened. I was 10. It sucked. Fast forward I have spent every July 4th after this outside, with FRIENDS, drinking too much and blowing things up. It went from my worst childhood holiday to the best adult holiday. I have camped, threw parties, attended parties, Hell we used to have whole block parties and lots of water activities. It is my holiday to let loose. This year I will run my 3rd Peachtree Road race. You are not a true ATLien until you run the worlds largest 10k! There is running, drinking, running and drinking at the same time, and all kinds of tomfoolery going on at 8 am July 4th down Peachtree in Atlanta.
My wish for you is to let loose and enjoy the heck out of this holiday because this is #Merica and for better or worse it is still the best damn country in the world.
