I finally got to hike Mt. Yonah!
From this point to the top we hiked 1600' up the mountain. I had heard that this was a tougher hike than Blood Mountain. I did not find that to be true though. I did however, find the view at the top to be a much bigger pay off than Blood Mountain! Maybe because I have never actually seen the view from the top of Blood Mountain!
This is not to say that it wasn't a tough hike. It was. AND it was HOOOOOOTTTTT!
My knee caps were dripping sweat.
There was a cave but after seeing a nasty funnel web (which means brown recluse spider) I did not want to go further.
Someone was a little tired. I think this was entering the "hate" phase.
The path was less treacherous than Blood Mountain. My daughter hiked this about a month ago and they went up a "short cut" which basically meant they scaled their way straight up. That I am sure was way more treacherous. No thank you! You can see a video here of her swing off the top of the mountain with some random people she made friends with at the top who hung a makeshift swing. #appledoesnotfallfarfromthetree
This was not the top but maybe 3/4 the way.
That would be me spotting an eagle
Not to mention this is the best place for climbing.
The rocks had some interesting shapes. Did you see the monkey and the elephant?
Bottom line...so far this ranks up in my top 5 north Georgia hikes.
